Jesse Fries

Jesse D. Fries has been named partner with Orwin & Fries Law Office in Somerset, Kentucky.

“I am pleased to welcome Jesse as a partner. His strong background in the Lake Cumberland community and legal experience will be important as we continue to focus on personalized, custom-tailored legal representation for our clients," said Bruce Orwin, founding partner of Orwin & Fries.

For more than 30 years, Orwin Law has provided valuable legal service to individuals, families, and businesses. The law firm offers a holistic approach, supporting clients with their lifelong legal needs.

Jesse earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville and a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.

At Vermont Law School Jesse gained extensive experience in environmental law. Working with the Vermont Law School Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic he worked to protect local waterways for fishing and recreation, fought to restrict expansion of aging oil pipelines, and helped enforce coal reclamation statutes.

Jesse also worked alongside Prof. Michael McCann of Sports Illustrated as a research assistant. Research and writing topics included the Americans with Disabilities Act, collective bargaining agreements, the Penn State University sexual abuse scandal, and anti-trust law.

The announcement of Jesse’s partnership coincides with the unveiling of the firm’s new name, website, logo, and identity system (all created by KSD Kinetic Strategic Design in Somerset, Kentucky). The firm’s symbol, a stylized sun composed of law books, represents the light and knowledge that Orwin & Fries strives to bring to all legal undertakings.

Orwin & Fries motto, "Law. For Life." encapsulates their approach to the law, and particularly how they help their clients, and how they develop long-lasting relationships with them.

"We also plan to be more active in social media, particularly on Facebook. We'd love you to join us and follow our page at If you have something to share with us, like an adoption celebration, successful real estate transaction, or anything we've been involved with, please tag us."

For our clients with child custody and visitation concerns, the state has recently created a hotline you may call for advice. The hotline will provide limited legal advice and could be an excellent resource for pro-se (individuals without an attorney) litigants.

At Orwin Law, we love being outdoors. Fishing, hiking, boating, kayaking, hunting, and farming are just a few of the activities we participate in when the office lights turn off.

We are also happy to say we work to protect our natural environment so that we can all continue to enjoy the natural beauty of Kentucky long into the future.

When the lights at the office are on we are happy to help clients with their property law needs -- whether it be a conservation easement or a boundary dispute, a contract for the sale of property or protecting your water and air from pollution.

Feel free to give us a call at (606) 678-4386 for more information on these services or to schedule an appointment.

This video lays out just some of reasons we love helping families with adoptions.

The Judge here expresses many of our views, including our immense respect for the parents who take on the awesome responsibility of adoption.
