D. Bruce Orwin is an attorney in private practice in Somerset, Kentucky, where he focuses on real estate law, estate planning, probate, municipal law, and commercial law. Bruce has B.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Kentucky and is a member of the Kentucky and American bar associations. He is also an owner of Southern Title, LLC in Somerset, and represents the United States in acquisitions for the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Bruce is a winner of the Poundstone Award for volunteer service to the Kentucky Nature Conservancy for his pro bono representation in land acquisitions by the Nature Conservancy. He is the former chair of the House of Delegates of the Kentucky Bar Association and was the winner of the 2003 First Amendment Award by the Society of Professional Journalists.
In his three decades of practice, Bruce has received some significant state and national awards. In 2003, he received a National First Amendment Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. In 1996, he was named the Volunteer of the Year by the Kentucky Nature Conservancy for donated legal services in land acquisitions in the Rockcastle River Watershed.
A year earlier than the Kentucky Nature Conservancy honor, he was nominated as Volunteer of the Year for the Kentucky Bar Association and has served the profession as Chair of the Kentucky Bar Association House of Delegates 2000-2001.
